Al Sahel and Al Yamm lodges on Sir Bani Yas Island each boast a number of chalets of which RSD designed and did the schematic planning and sourcing for. Instead of duplicating a single scheme RSD opted to vary the schemes so that each chalet could be authentic in its own right. Al Yamm Lodge is juxtaposed on the water’s edge surround by mangroves and showcases the aquatic & bird life of the region whilst Al Sahel is located in the savannah grasslands of the island.
This heritage design of this hotel in the Empty Quarter of the Liwa Desert entailed RSD to curate just under 2000 pieces of original art along with 3000 pieces of objet and cultural specific artefacts that were sourced and installed within this 2km long hotel. The brief: To bring authenticity, texture and a museum-like presence to the Arabian styled architecture. Installations in the main lobby of the hotel now displays museum quality artefacts and curated art and artifacts for the guests to enjoy and learn from.
Once the private island of late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the remote island off the coast of Abu Dhabi now boasts the Anantara Resort & Spa. Upon final phase of renovating, RSD was called in to help with an emergency overhaul of key public spaces of the hotel. With a 6 week schedule RSD did a major overhaul of the interior design and handpicked furniture, art, objet which we procured and installed within this short time frame.
